Nigerian Immigration Service Controller general Sacked!
The Nigerian Immigration Service Controller General, Rose Uzoma has been sacked from her position in the NIS over recruitment scandal. Mrs Uzoma was alleged to have favoured applicants from certain parts of the country over others in the agency’s recruitment process.
A statement from the office of the Minister of Interior made it known that “President Goodluck Jonathan has approved that the Comptroller General of the Immigration Service, Mrs Rose Chinyere Uzoma should proceed on pre-retirement and accumulated annual leave with immediate effect.”
Before her mandatory retirement, a very strong petition was sent to the President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja, the Nigerian Capital, after which she was asked to gracefully resign from her position, for "misuse of office".
It was contained in the statement that she should hand over to the most senior Deputy Comptroller General before Wednesday, 16th January. Her appointment as the CG was approved by the President on July 30, 2010. She took over from Chukwurah Udeh, who retired after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60 years.
Mrs Uzoma who will be 60 on March 23 is the second woman to hold the post of Comptroller General of the Immigration Service. Though it is being insinuated that she would have to go, having attained the mandatory retirement age, the alleged recruitment scam that trailed the agency recently is believed to have hastened the process.

A police corporal attached to the Ikorodu Divisional Police Station, Igbogbo Road, Ikorodu Area of Lagos State, South-west Nigeria, Goroye Folagbade, has been arrested and detained for allegedly stealing and selling a motorcycle belonging to Saheed Owolabi.
The Operation Officer of the Police Division, Ebuwa Vincent, was said to have seized the motorcycle from Saheed a few days after Christmas because he violated traffic law but could not produce the motorcycle afterwards, claiming that it had been taken to Alausa whereas the motorcycle had been stolen and sold.
after several failed attempts to recover the seized motorcycle, Saheed eventually found his motorcycle with another commercial motorcyclist, Ismail Olomitutu, at Anibaba area of Ikorodu on Thursday, 10 January, 2013 and he raised an alarm, saying he was the rightful owner of the motorcycle.
It was gathered that Ismail was interrogated before he eventually confessed that it was one of the station guards, Goroye Folagbade, who sold the motorcycle to him for N55,000.
Goroye later confessed to have committed the said criminal act when he was summoned by the Divisional Crime Officer, DCO of Igbogbo Divisional Headquarters after which he was arrested and detained at the same police station.
According to reliable sources, “Goroye does not know how to ride a motorcycle so, he probably must have asked Ismail to come for the motorcycle inside the police station when no one was suspecting. Even the OPS in charge may have connived with him to dispatch the motorcycle because he lied to the owner of the motorcycle that it had been taken to Alausa.” the Lagos State Capital.
