Yuletide Tips For a Healthy Holiday Season Without Gaining Weight!

It's the Yuletide once again, the season for irresistible treats, delicacies—and a belly like our dear friend Santa. Between Christmas parties and family dinners, the temptations that comes with every treat seem difficult to resist.Contrary to popular belief, the average person does not gain five or more pounds during the holiday season. Studies show that the average weight gain is more like one pound. So, you may ask, “What’s the big deal”.

Research also indicates that we don’t shed that extra pound after the holidays, so the extra pounds add up over time. Below are a few tips that could help maintain a healthier, leaner holiday season.

Eat before you go to a party: It is a common misconception that by skipping meals, you will eat fewer calories and lose weight. This couldn't be farther from the truth. Besides
slowing down your metabolism, starving yourself during the day makes you more likely binge later at night. Eat small meals and snacks throughout the day and be sure to have a substantial snack before going to the party, so you are not starving and ravish everything in sight.

Downsize your portions. There’s no reason why you can’t have a taste of

your favourite foods this holiday season—but “taste” is the operative word.

Portion size is the key to healthy eating and weight control. Try filling your

plate with hormonally balanced foods, including complex carbohydrates such as

brown rice, fruits and vegetables, lean proteins such as chicken, turkey and fish

and essential fats such as nuts and avocado.

Slow down when you eat. It takes 20 minutes from the time you eat until

your brain gets the signal that you are full. Remember, it’s not a contest to see

how many plates you can fill at the buffet line. Eat slowly, put your fork down

between bites and take a moment after you eat to sit back and relax. Once

those 20 minutes are up, you likely won’t need that second helping.

Limit the booze to help you lose. Sugar-laden alcohol contains many “empty

calories” that contribute to weight gain. As well, drinking too much alcohol may

increase your appetite and alter your judgment, making temptation next to

impossible to resist. Try having a seltzer with a lime twist or glass of water

between alcoholic drinks to help cut calories.

Keep up your exercise routine.Although the holidays may be a busy time, it

is important to not skip your exercise routine. Remember, if you burn the

calories you consume, your weight should stay the same. If you’re having
trouble finding time to workout, try doing half of your regular routine, do a few laps around the mall before your holiday shopping or exercise first thing in the morning before the holiday rush swings into full gear.

Don’t forget to stay hydrated—and no, that doesn't include alcohol! In fact,

many of the holiday beverages and foods we eat actually dehydrate our bodies.

Be sure to drink at least eight glasses of water a day.

Plan your indulgences wisely. If you are going to give into temptation, do so

with thought. Don’t waste your calories on foods you don’t really love. Scope

out the scene, ID the food you can’t live without and go for it—ideally a small

portion of it of course!

Make healthier versions of holiday foods. Traditional holiday foods taste

good but are loaded with fat and calories that are not good for your health. To

make your favourite dishes healthier, try cooking the stuffing outside the

turkey to avoid soaking up extra fat, pass the gravy though a skimmer and serve baked sweet potatoes instead of candied yams. Try some Truestar healthy holiday favourites.

Let your family and friends be the focus this holiday season. It’s hard

not to be consumed by food during the holidays since cookies, chocolates and candy canes appear everywhere. But remember, the holidays are also about celebration and enjoying time with those around you. Try focusing more on family and friends and less on food to help you get through the holidays a little lighter.

I hope you'r having the holiday of your dream.

Clinton Admitted!

United States Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton has been admitted into a New York hospital after the discovery of a blood clot stemming from the concussion she sustained earlier this month. According to her spokes man Philippe Reines,  Mrs Clinton's doctors discovered the clot while performing a follow-up examination.

Mrs Clinton, 65, fell and suffered a concussion while at home alone in mid-December, 2012, as she recovered from a stomach virus that left her severely dehydrated. The concussion was diagnosed on December 13, 2012, and Mrs Clinton was forced to cancel a trip to North Africa and the Middle East that had been planned for the following week.

According to medical experts,  a clot in a lung or the brain is more serious. Lung clots, called Pulmonary embolisms, can be deadly, and a clot in the brain can cause a stroke.

Keeping Mrs Clinton in the hospital for a few days could allow doctors to perform more tests to determine why the clot formed, and to rule out a heart problem or other condition that may have led to it.

The plane may have been carrying 12 people: 8 passengers and 4 crew. It was coming from the Czech Republic.

Details on the crash were not immediately clear. Initial reports said the plane crashed while attempting to land, but later reports said it had crashed while taking off. Light snow was falling in Moscow at the time.

Preliminary reports say the jet, which belongs to Russian airline Red Wings, rolled out from the runway into Kievskoye Highway, fell into pieces and caught fire. The plane might have been carrying a crew only.
The plane broke into three big parts, reports says.
Fire-fighters and rescuers work on the ground. The circumstances of the incident are being clarified. Earlier, the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry confirmed that the plane had to make a forced landing.
Part of the crashed Tupolev-204 has blocked the highway; a traffic jam is developing at the scene. Vnukovo-bound flights are getting diverted to Sheremetyevo Airport.
Red Wings is a Russian airline that specializes in charter flights to Russia and Europe. In 2012 the company began to operate regular flights throughout Russia.

India Tea Workers burn Boss to Death!

Local officials reports that about 1000 tea garden workers surrounded their bosses residence in North-East India,  on Wednesday evening, setting it ablaze; burning to death the owner and his wife.
Indian tea workers set fire to boss

The charred bodies of Mridul Kumar Bhattacharyya and his wife Rita were later recovered from the debris.

According to report, the angry workers surrounded the bungalow at Kunapathar in Assam state, late Wednesday, following a two week long dispute with the manager.
Police said the incident happened after the manager asked some workers to leave their accommodation

More than half of India's tea output comes from 800 tea estates in Assam.
It was gathered that Mr. bhattacharyya had faced protests at another tea estate he owned two years ago.; in which angry workers set fire ti his tea factory near the state capital,  Guwahatai, after he had allegedly fired on a crowd that had gathered near his house to protest against a report attack on a local woman,

An unnamed female tea worker was quoted as saying that:
“We all came and attacked the bungalow and set it on fire. They deserved to be killed as the planter has exploited us for a long time and tortured us for petty things"
A local newspaper reported that the violence was sparked by the plantation owner and exploiter Mridul Bhattacharya ordering 10 workers to leave their homes with immediate effect, and the detention of several workers by the police on unspecified charges. The workers claim that Bhattacharya had not paid them their wages that had been due in December, and all the other issues have stemmed from workers complaining about the non-payment.
When workers refused to leave their homes (owned by the plantation) he had them arrested and imprisoned. An unnamed worker said that:
“Some workers met Bhattacharya Wednesday morning and requested him to get the arrested labourers released. He, however, did not pay any heed to the request and threatened the workers of dire consequences. This angered the labourers and they took the extreme step,”
It has been gathered that  the plantation owner, Mridul Bhattacharya, has a history of exploiting and killing workers.
