Group calls for a ban on sales of toy guns in Pakistan!

Shops across Pakistan have seen a rapid increase in the sale of toy guns of various shapes and sizes in recent months.

Now child psychologists and social workers say the toys are having a bad influence on impressionable young minds and are calling for the toy guns to be banned.

2 Female Undergraduates Burnt To Death In Midnight Inferno!

Two female undergraduate siblings have been burnt to death following a midnight inferno that razed their hostel in Agbor, Delta State, Tuesday 28th Jan.

The two young women were students of College of Education, Agbor and were among those living in a private hostel adjacent the college.

Their names were given as Favour and Ndidi from Obiaruku in Ukwuani Local Government Area of the state.

According to an eyewitness, “The unfortunate incident occurred while they were sleeping in the hostel. The fire started at about midnight unknown to neighbours that the two girls were in their rooms.”

The cause of the fire was not immediately ascertained but it was gathered that men of the state fire service were called in for rescue operation after the havoc had been done. The two corpses were deposited at the Central Hospital, Agbor.

Female Deportee Caught Sneaking Back Into America In Suitcase!

Customs and Border Protection agents discovered 48-year-old Pornkamol Mongkolsermsak while inspecting a vehicle entering the United States on Dec 30.

Ms Pornkamol, from Bangkok, was hidden under clothing in the large suitcase in the back of the vehicle driven by a 56-year-old Phoenix man, whose name was not released.

Customs and Border Protection spokesman Victor Brabble said that Ms Pornkamol was being charged with re-entry after deportation.

Authorities did not immediately know if she has a lawyer yet.

Boko Haram kill 3, injure many in Kano mosque attack!

Gunmen opened fire on worshippers at a mosque near northern Nigeria’s main city of Kano, killing three of them and wounding 12 as they prayed, witnesses and police said on Wednesday.

Islamist insurgent group Boko Haram is active in Kano, Nigeria’s second biggest city and relic of a medieval Islamic empire that thrived for centuries on trade routes crossing the Sahara to the Mediterranean coast.

The militants see anyone who does not follow their austere brand of Islam as apostates and have assassinated Muslim clerics who oppose them. They often target the security forces or Christians, but they have attacked mosques in the past.

Police spokesman Musa Majiya declined to speculate on who was behind Tuesday night’s attack in Kwankwaso village, about 30 km from Kano and home of Kano state governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso. Criminal gangs also operate in the area.

“We were inside the mosque praying when we heard gunshots just as we were almost finishing the prayer,” witness Adamu Inuwa said, speaking by telephone from a hospital bed where he was nursing a gunshot wound.

“It was terrible. They were shouting ‘Allah akbar’ (God is Greatest) and shooting sporadically everywhere. I escaped through the fence.”

Boko Haram has fought for the past four years to carve a breakaway Islamist state out of majority Muslim northern Nigeria, and is now the gravest security threat to Africa’s top energy producer.

They have killed thousands since launching an uprising in 2009 – the vast majority Muslims – and an offensive President Goodluck Jonathan ordered in May last year has so far failed to quell them.

But there is also a patchwork of criminal gangs loosely associated with the rebels who take advantage of northern Nigeria’s security vacuum to rob and kill.

Some are connected to local politicians.

“I don’t know why Boko Haram would attack the hometown of the state governor,” said the governor’s special assistant Suleiman Iliya, pointing out that the governor defected to the opposition last month. “I think maybe the attack was political.”

Political violence is expected to increase this year, ahead of closely fought presidential and regional elections in 2015.

10 burnt to death in Lagos tanker fire!

No fewer than 10 people were reportedly roasted as a tanker laden with petrol went up in flames on Tuesday, 7th of January at Berger Suya junction, Apapa, Lagos. 

Also, several buildings, eight vehicles, and over 200 locked-up shops including a commercial bank in the area were razed.

According to Vanguard news, the fire which started at about 10:30pm, and raged till 3:00am was said to have been caused by a tanker laden with 33,000 liters of petrol which lost control as it was about to negotiate a sharp bend and exploded close to Suya spots in the area.

Several passengers in two commercial buses, by-standers, two Hausa suya vendors including the driver of the truck and the conductor were burnt beyound recognition as rescue workers were seen picking bones of parts of human beings into body bag.

Controversial Lagos Pastor, Sign Fireman arrested over Alleged Ritual Murder Of A Virgin Girl!

Controversial Lagos miracle Pentecostal priest, Pastor Ofuche Ukoha (also known as) “Sign Fireman” has been implicated in a ritual murder scandal involving a boy in his church who strangled 12 year old teenage girl while trying to obtain feces from her for ritual purposes.

The disclosure of Pastor Fireman’s involvement in the scandal was made by an eighteen year old boy paraded by the police in Lagos. The teenage suspect stated during the parade that he was sent on the ritual mission by Pastor Fireman.

He said he had always dreamt of becoming rich and had approached the pastor personally, after years of attending the church without his own financial miracle happening, Mr. Fireman reportedly told him the way to get his Sign for finance was to get the feces of a virgin girl. The suspect said Pastor Fireman promised him a reward of N100,000 for the assignment.

The suspect narrated how he sought and killed the 12 year old girl simply named “Bose”, the daughter of a poor lady on his street.

Confirming the incident to a Lagos correspondent, Lagos Police PRO, Mrs. Ngozi Braide said Pastor Fireman was arrested on five days after he was declared wanted by the police. She said investigation has commenced regarding his involvement.

She also said the outcome of the investigation would soon be made public.

With his church receiving hordes of miracle seekers every weekend, Pastor Fireman’s church auditorium at Aguda, Surulere area of Lagos is reportedly notorious for using semi-nude female ushers.

The pastor was a subject of a UK-based Channel 4 documentary carried by journalist Seyi Rhodes of Channel 4′s “Unreported World” in 2011.
