HORRIFIC- Pakistan Mob Kills woman and granddaughters Over 'Blasphemy'!

A woman and her two granddaughters were reportedly killed by an angry mob in Pakistan after an allegedly blasphemous post on Facebook.

Information revealed that the victims identified as 55-year-old Bashiran, seven-year-old Hira and her baby sister died after their home was attacked in Gurjanwala, 110 miles southeast of the capital Islamabad.

All three were members of the Ahmadi community - an offshoot of Islam founded in India in the 19th Century.

It was gathered that the mob attacked and burnt five homes, a storage building and several vehicles belonging to Ahmadi followers on Sunday night after an unverified rumours emerged that a member of the community had put up an image of the Kaaba, the structure at the Grand Mosque in Mecca which Muslims face five times a day to pray, allegedly containing nudity.

Police officials said a crowd of about 150 people first went to the police station to demand the blasphemy case was registered.

"As we were negotiating with the crowd, another mob attacked and started burning the houses of Ahmadis," an official said.

60-year-old Munawar Ahmed, who lives in the area, said: "The attackers were looting and plundering, taking away fans and whatever valuables they could get hold of.

"Some were continuously firing into the air."

A spokesman for the Ahmadi community, Salimud Din,  accused the police of failing to act.

"The police were there but just watching the burning," he said.

"They didn't do anything to stop the mob, first they looted their homes and shops and then they burnt the homes."

Mr Din said it was the worst assault since attacks on places of worship which killed 86 Ahmadis in 2011.

Under Pakistani law, Ahmadi people are banned from using Muslim greetings, saying prayers or refereeing to their place of worship as a mosque. 

The blasphemy law is considered draconian by the minority Ahmadi and Christian community in Pakistan. The controversial law is not clearly defined and is punishable by death.           

Human rights groups say the law is often used to settle personal vendettas or to illegal grab property.

In January 2011, governor of Punjab Salman Taseer - who opposed the law - was killed by his bodyguard. Lawyers showered his killer with rose petals when he came to court.

Three months later Shahbaz Bhatti, the only Christian minister in the government, was killed for challenging the law.

And in May 2014, prominent human rights activist Rashid Rehman, who had received death threats for defending people charged under the law, was shot dead in Multan.

A report by the Center for Research and Security Studies in Islamabad said there was just one case of blasphemy in 2001, but by 2011 that number grew to 80.

This year alone around 100 people have been charged under the law.

Though there have been convictions, the death sentence has never been carried out and most cases are thrown out on appeal.

Mobs like the one in Gurjanwala have reportedly killed many people accused of blasphemy.

Another bomb explosion hits Kano!

After averting an explosion at Isiayaku Rabiu Mosque, having recovered explosives hidden in a Peugeot vehicle which was parked near the mosque; and less than 24 hours after a bomb explosion killed at least five people at Saint Charles Catholic Church, Kano State, another explosion reportedly occurred in the state.

It was gathered that the blast which claimed many lives, occurred at NNPC Mega station at Hotoro area of Kano state.

Confirming the Monday explosion via its twitter page, the Nigerian Police, said it was detonated by a suicide bomber, it further advised residents to stay clear of the scene.

The number of casualties could not be ascertained yet.

Don Jazzy, Rugged Man join campaign against Ebola!

Two days after a Liberian infected by the dreaded Ebola virus was confirmed dead in a Lagos hospital, a massive enlightenment campaign aimed at preventing its spread has begun on many social networking sites.

The deceased, Patrick Sawyer, was said to have arrived in the country last Sunday (July 20) on a flight from Monrovia via the Togolese capital, Lome.

Government institutions, such as the National Emergency Management Agency, and other concerned individuals have turned to the social media to educate members of the public on how to avoid getting infected with the virus.

  

Multi award-winning record producer and Chief Executive Officer of Mavin Records, Don Jazzy, as well as rapper Rugged Man, are some of the popular Nigerians on social media who are using the social networks to educate their followers.

Don Jazzy particularly urged his fans to avoid places where there have been recent outbreaks of the disease, adding that Nigerians in general should endeavour to report any suspicious cases of the disease to any of the emergency centers that have been created by various tiers of government across the country.

“I have been quarantined. But why do we even shake hands? It’s not necessary. Or better still use sanitizer and wash hands regularly with soap if you must shake hands,” Don Jazzy wrote on Twitter.

Rugged Man on his part, noted that health authorities ought to track down the nurse, doctors and other medical officials who examined Sawyer on arrival in Nigeria.

He also stated on his Twitter page that Nigerians should imbibe the habit of washing their hands “more than regularly now,” to prevent them from contracting the virus.

“I heard that the first case of the Ebola virus has been reported in Lagos. Please be careful and always wash your hands well.

“How about the nurse and doctor that examined the Liberian before realizing that he had contracted Ebola virus? Do we have health sections at our borders?” he asked, in a series of tweets.

Meanwhile, NEMA has insisted that one of the surest ways of preventing the spread of Ebola was to avoid contact with infected people.

It also added that Nigerians who take delight in eating bush meat should take necessary precautions and avoid their consumption during this period.

In a series of messages on its Twitter account, NEMA noted that since some species of animals – apart from primates – may carry the Ebola virus, people should avoid handling live or dead wild animals.

The emergency agency warned that the bodies of people who have died of Ebola disease are still contagious. It added that only specially organised and trained teams should bury the remains of victims, using appropriate safety equipment.

NEMA stated, “Precautions can help prevent infection and spread of Ebola virus. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand rubs containing alcohol when soap and water are not available.

“Avoid bush meat. In developing countries, wild animals, including nonhuman primates, are sold in local markets. Avoid buying or eating them. Avoid contact with infected people, too.

“Besides, avoid contact with the (infected) person’s body fluids and tissues, including blood, semen, vaginal secretions and saliva. Please don’t handle remains of victims. Only trained personnel should do so.

“Always be sure to wear special protective clothing, including gown, gloves, full face mask and eye goggles, if you are around an infected person.”

The World Health Organisation has said that though there is no specific treatment for Ebola, those diagnosed with the virus could recover with appropriate medical care.

The United Nations agency advised people, particularly citizens of Sub-Saharan Africa to avoid rumour peddling, but seek credible counselling on Ebola from public health authorities.

WHO listed symptoms of an infection with Ebola as including, but not limited to, sudden fever, intense weakness, muscle pain, headache and sore throat.

“Time interval from infection to onset of Ebola symptoms is from two to 21 days. Patients become contagious once they begin to show symptoms.

“Seek medical care immediately if in contact with a person known or suspected to have Ebola and beginning to show symptoms.

“If you have been in an area known with Ebola, in contact with a person known or suspected with Ebola and begin to have symptoms, see a doctor.

“Anybody suspected to have contracted the disease should be reported to the nearest health unit without delay,” the global health agency stated on its official Twitter page.

Police in Kano averts bomb blast!

The State Police Commissioner said the police in Kano averted another bomb blast in the city. 

According to information, Police operatives discovered of a car – Peugeot 406 with registration number AA 513 ZAK – loaded with explosives at Shiek Isyaku Rabiu mosque, Goron Dutse.

Immediately, bomb experts were dispatched to the scene to neutralize the explosives, to avoid casualties.

Suspected Bomber Disguised As A Woman arrested by Nigerian Troops!

Nigerian troops have arrested a man suspected to be connected with the assassination attempt on General Buhari on Wednesday. 


Reports says the young man was apprehended by a military patrol team that immediately swooped-in on the area following the explosion. The team found the suspicious character disguised as a woman as he was trying to disappear into a crowd of onlookers and arrested him.



It was said he was clad in female garb, with a brassiere affixed to his chest to exude femininity.


Youths in the area attempted to mob him while he was being arrested but they were restrained by troops who whisked him away in an armored personnel carrier. He is reportedly undergoing interrogation.
