Andrews was on May 16, 2001 sentenced to life in imprisonment following a sensational trial. She appealed against her conviction in 2003 but her plea was rejected along with claims her boyfriend had abused and raped her. In 2009, she went missing from East Sutton Park open prison near Maidstone, Kent, and was eventually found in a nearby hotel two days later. She was charged with escaping lawful custody but the Crown Prosecution Service later decided to drop the matter.
"The decision to release is a matter for the Board, which is independent.
"Arrangements and the date of the release are a matter for the Ministry of Justice."

The jury rejected Jane's claims that she was acting in self-defence when she struck Cressman on the head with his cricket bat and then stabbed him in the chest with a kitchen knife. Official report says she killed Cressman because he refused to marry her.
