Man Arrested For Assaulting Female Travelling Companion On-Board!


Following reports that a female passenger was assaulted by a 48-year-old male travelling companion, a Houston bound British Airways flight from London, was on Wednesday, July 8, diverted to Boston Logan international airport.



Authorities said troopers arrested the man, identified as Darren Halliwell, from Aspull, Wigan, at about mid-day, after reports the passenger had assaulted his travelling companion before being restrained by multiple passengers.  Halliwell was later charged with interfering with a flight crew. Authorities said more charges could be filed.

A Foreign Office statement said: “We are aware of reports of the arrest of a British national at Boston Logan international airport and stand ready to offer consular assistance as necessary.” After the arrest, the plane continued to Houston.

FG To Boost Technological Ties With Japan!

As part of its efforts to improve the unemployment challenge in the country, President Muhammadu Buharii said that his administration will take actions towards significantly improving the operating environment for domestic and international companies in Nigeria.


This was revealed in a statement made available by the Special Adviser to the president, Femi Adesina, while receiving the new Japanese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Sadanobu Kusaoke, on Thursday, July 2, in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria


President Buhari stated the Federal Government, will welcome greater investment inflows from Japan and other developed nations in support of its plans to revitalize the Nigerian economy and create more jobs, under his leadership.
The President further assured Mr. Kusaoke that his administration will particularly welcome more trade and economic cooperation with Japan in the manufacturing, technology and agricultural sectors.
"I was very impressed with the role your Prime Minister played at our talks with G-7 leaders in Germany. He had a deep understanding of the challenge in the North-East of Nigeria and how it is affecting our economy.
"We look forward to a stronger partnership with your country in many areas, especially in technology, which is now the major driver of job creation across the world today,’’  Buhari said.
President Buhari received the letters of credence of the new Ukrain's new Ambassador Dr. Valerii Aleksandruk and the new High Commissioner of Pakistan, Lt.- Gen. Agha Muhammed Umer Farooq.
The new envoys assured the President that they will work hard to maintain and strengthen the existing cordial relations between Nigeria and the countries.

Amama Mbabazi Barred from Holding Rallies!

The crisis rocking Ugandan politics may be eating deep as presidential aspirant and former prime Minister, Amama Mbabazi has been blocked from holding public meetings across the country. 

In a letter, dated June 23, Ugandan police boss, wrote Mbabazi"it is clear that your party has neither sponsored nor endorsed you as an aspirant within the meaning of the NRM Constitution and law... and that your aspirations are illegal."
"In view of the above, your programme of public meetings are not cleared by the police and cannot go ahead,"

President Muhammadu Buhari met with governors of the 36 states Monday, June 22, to discuss ways to alleviate crisis that rocked the nation's economy since the crash in oil price.

The president acknowledged that reviving the nation's economy will be a challenging task, but promised that his administration will do its best.
"Honestly, our problem is great,..Billions of dollars can be recovered. We will do our best" he said.
