Buhari Goes After Corrupt Ministers And Government Official In Jonathan's Administration!

For years, Nigeria has suffered from the 'curse' of her number one natural resource (crude oil), rather than being blessed by it. Since independent, government officials seems to care more about enriching themselves with impunity, than utilizing the crude resource for development. Regimes come and go, all with good agenda for the nation, but it seems as soon as they step into Dodarn Barracks, and later the Aso Rock villa, something stronger than the 'still voice of good conscience' beclouds them into going the exact opposite direction.

Although Nigeria rose to become the largest exporter of crude oil in the 70s, there appear to be little for the populace to boast about.

This rather unfortunate situation  was best described by Swiss weekly "Die Weltwoche" editor, Daniel Ammann, in his book "The Secret Lives of Marc Rich, The King of Oil", as thus:

"The West African Nation (Nigeria) provides a good example of the sad phenomenon known as the "resource curse". The nation's immense oil riches never trickle down to benefit the wider population"

A situation he attributed then to the nation's history of coups, "after which the ruling elite would pillage the treasury and fill their coffers with the nation's wealth".

Nigeria's legendary corruption allegations on almost every exiting government or one out-stead by coup, must have prompted Transperancy International to rank her in 2014 as "the 136th most corrupt nation in the world, and 3rd in West Africa".

Latest developments in the Buhari/ Osibanjo's administration however suggests that there might be hope for Nigerians who never gave up in the fight, and believe that Nigeria will be liberated from "resource curse", when all who contributed to this stereotype  would have been brought to book, and made to return that which they siphoned.

Peharps, it is in this line of thought that President Muhammadu Buhari stated on Wednesday, 22nd July, that he is currently receiving documents that indicted some top government officials and ministers in the Jonathan's administration, of oil theft and massive fraud.

According to the president, the documents in question exposed the activities of the affected government functionaries, who used their elevated offices to move as much as one million barrels of crude oil per day for their personal purposes.

Buhari/ Ubama Meeting - Nigeria Maintain Stand On Same Sex Marriage!

Despite the much anticipated outcome of the meeting between Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari and his U.S counterpart Barrack Ubama, on the issue of 'same sex/ gay rights' relationships, Nigeria continued to maintain her 'zero-tolerance' stand on same sex relationships.

This was made known in a statement released by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Nigerian President, Femi Adesina via his twitter handle Wednesday, July 22nd.

The twit below:
"The same sex marriage issue came up at the joint session of Senate and House Committees on Foreign Affairs, not in direct talks with Obama".

"Talks shifted to another matter once PMB emphatically stated Nigeria's stand on same sex marriage. The issue was not pushed".

According to U.S Secretary of States John Kerry, talk between the two nations were instead focused on  "many areas of cooperation, from counter terrorism to energy".

Lagos Water Ways Transportation, Providing Succor To Ikorodu Residents!

These men and women reside in the fast developing Ikorodu area of Lagos state, but work with various organizations in Victorian island, Ikoyi and Lekki

With the relative low cost housings, lands and serenity enjoyed by residents of the Ikorodu community, compared to what is obtained in most parts of the Lagos metropolis, Ikorodu is on a daily basis attracting more people.

A major challenge that confronts these residents however, is the heavy traffic situations especially at peak periods , usually between 5am - 9pm on most working days.

This challenge is turning into a thing of the past due to the emergence and gradual popularity of the ferry means of transportation, which transports workers to and fro Idi-Oro, CMS, Lekki and Ajah axis on a daily basis.

These workers obtain a receipt for a token, pack their car at the parking lot located near the ferry take off terminals in the morning,  and simply get into their rides after they alighted from the ferries in the evening at the terminals which is gradually turning into a bee-hive of commercial activities.

Ikorodu area is separated from Lagos Island by the Lagoon.
