Ethicists Frown At Host Choice For 26th ICTS Venue!
As medical experts prepare to hold the 26th International Congress of the Transplantation Society in Hong Kong, Ethicists and medical practitioners frowns at the choice of Hong Kong, a former British colony that returned to Chinese rule in 1997, as host for the conference.
Their reason for disapproval it was gathered, springs from the believe that against it's claims to have stopped a decade long practice, there is no independent and objective evidence of a complete cessation of China's unethical organ procurement from prisoners. This move the group believes, indicates that the organization have neglected a longstanding embargo intended to pressure China into changing.
Chinese health officials on their part said they have stopped the practice since January 1, 2015, and currently building a voluntary national donation system that does not include prisoners, howbeit, prisoners can still donate organs. "The task is heavy and the road far, but we are walking on a path of light,”. Chinese former deputy minister of health and senior transplant official, Huang Jiefu, said in a recent interview on China's move to stop the practice.
