What could have been a catastrophe was on Thursday, 11th October, 2018 dodged at Igbo-Elerin road, off Badagry express way, Okokomaiko area, Lagos State, Nigeria.
According eye-witnesses, who reside in the area, the tanker, loaded with the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) product fell while trying to take a sharp bend on the road.
When Roving Informant got to the area, men of the Lagos State Fire Service, and some officers of the Nigerian Police Force were already on ground to ensure the situation does not spiral out of control.
Businesses close to the spot were closed, the short-cut leading to Badagry express way from Igbo-Elerin was equally closed, while vehicles were diverted to ply the Iyana-Oba route.
Residents and eye-witnesses expressed gratitude over the response of the Lagos State Fire Service and the Nigerian Police Force, according to a business owner who spoke with our correspondence, this could have been a major disaster, this is a highly populated area, with residential and business buildings clustered, there is even a market, a few meters from here. I don't want to think of what could have happened if that tanker exploded.
It was also observed, that some individuals however helped themselves to some free fuel, under Police watch.
