Amidst controversy, and ensuing January 10, 2019 announcement, UDSP's Felix Tshisekedi was on Thursday, 24th January, 2019, sworn in as the new President of Democratic Republic of Congo.

Tshisekedi, succeeds Joseph Kabila, who had ruled DRC since 2001.
Runner-up, Martin Fayulu's legal challenge, was thrown-out by the country's Constitutional Court, making way for Felix Tshisekedi, to emerge as President.
Felix Tshisekedi reportedly won the elections, with a 38.6% votes, to defeat Martin Fayulu (34.8%), and Emmanuel Ramazani Shadary (23.8%), in December 30th, 2018.
