Proceeding With 16th February And March 2nd Elections, No Longer Feasible- INEC!

After a meeting on what was supposed to be the eve of Nigeria's 2019 general elections, Friday, 15th February, 2019, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) postponed the elections slated to hold on Saturday, February 16, and on March 2nd, 2019.

The electoral body sited "logistics and operational plan and the determination to conduction free, fair and credible elections", the Commission concluded that going-ahead with the elections as initially scheduled, was not attainable



The new date scheduled for the Presidential and National Assembly elections will be on Saturday, 23rd February 2019; while the Governorship, State House of Assembly, and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) area Council elections, was re-scheduled to hold on Saturday, 9th March, 2019.

The Commission said it will meet with "key stake-holders", at the International Conference Center, Abuja, Nigeria's capital city, by 2 pm, on Saturday, 16th February, to update them in the development.

INEC Restores Materials Razed In Fire Out-Breaks!

Following the destruction of electoral materials in two containers, believed to be INEC's major storage facilities in Awka, Anambra state capital, south-east Nigeria; "replacement Card Readers, for the 14 local government areas", was recently arranged and delivered.

INEC said it is working hard to configure and deliver "replacement Card Readers for the outstanding 7 local government areas, namely: Ayamelum, Ogbaru, Idemili North, Idemili South, Aguata, Awka North and Oyi".

Confirming that elections will hold in Qu'an Pan local government area of Plateau state, middle-belt, Nigeria, INEC replaced "ballot boxes and voting cubicles", destroyed in a recent blaze. According to the Electoral body, "reprinting of voters' register for all polling units have been completed, and office relocated to a new building".

INEC also promised to re-print and deliver Permanent Voters' Card to individuals affected in the Isiala-Ngwa South local government area, office in Abia state, south-east Nigeria.

INEC Discredits Rumour On 'Only' Index Finger Vote!

Nigeria's Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has debunked the rumour currently circulating, which states that the electoral body- "has changed pattern of voting without majority of (Nigerian) citizens being aware of".

The rumour further states:"you don't vote with your thumb anymore, you vote with your index finger (warning finger). Any vote caste with the thumb is void (cancelled).....

Discrediting the rumour, INEC responded: "INEC's attention has been drawn to a fake News, making rounds, that the index finger, is the only finger approved for marking a ballot paper, this is false. At the point of registration, all ten fingers was captured, so any finger can be used for marking a ballot paper. Make sure that your mark is inside the box of your Party of choice, and does not stray into another box".

Photos Of 'Supposed' Smollet's Attackers Released!

Following Tuesday, 29th January, 2019's "hate crime" attack, on 36-years-old American Actor, Jussie Smollet, the Police has released photos of men believed to be people of interest.



Smollet, arrived Chigaco late Monday, and was on his way from fetching some something to eat on Tuesday, around 2:am, when two men, wearing what was described to be "ski masks", attacked him, shouting "racial and homophobic slogans".




According to reports, the attackers, hit him around the face area, wrapped a rope round his neck, and poured an unknown substance on his face, before fleeing the scene.

Smollet later got himself to Northern University hospital, while the case is under investigation

"Illegal" Migration Challenge: Italian Court Orders For Salvanimi's Trial!

Going by a recent Italian Court Order, Matteo Salvanimi, Italian Interior Minister, and far-right leader, might face trial, for what the court termed "kidnapping". It was reported, that Salvanimi refused the debarking of immigrants abode a ship which docked on Sicily's Catania Port, for six days.




Salvinimi, is reportedly refusing to give-in, on what was tagged the: "fight for his people, against the scourge of illegal immigration", as his supporters flag off the #SalviniNonMollare .



Search For Emiliano Sala's Missing Air-Craft Called-Off!

Police Authority at Guernsey, reportedly called off the search for the missing private plane, believed to be conveying Cardiff City, Argentine striker, Emiliano Sala, and Pilot, Dave Ibbotson.


The search came to a halt, over the believe that the chances of their survival dwindled. 

The "Piper Malibu" was reported to be en-route Cardiff, Wales, from Nantes, France, when the air craft disappeared from radar on Monday,  January 21st, 2018, over the English Channel.

Abuja Court Of Appeal Declares Donald Duke SPD's Presidential Flag-Bearer!

The Court of Appeal in Abuja, Nigeria's capital city, on Thursday, 24th January, 2019, declared former Governor of Cross-River State, and Presidential aspirant, Donald Duke; the Presidential Candidate for the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

It was reported that Donald Duke had 812 votes, against Jerry Gana's 611 votes in the primaries. The High Court of the Federal capital Territory, on December 14, 2018, declared Ex-Information Minister, Jerry Gana, winner of the Party's Presidential Primaries instead. 

The ruling was on the grounds, that according to the Party's agreement, the National Chairman and the Presidential Flag-bearer are not supposed to hail from the same geo-political zone. A ruling, Duke challenged in Court.

The three-man Panel, led by Justice Abdul Aboki, displaced, the lower court ruling, and declared Duke the winner.
