Bodies of at 70 bodies, including that of the Imam of Damasak town, in Northern Nigeria, was recently discovered by Chadian and Nigerien soldiers, who were on the heels of boko-haram insurgents, as they fled the area.
Information revealed that the bodies were strewn beneath the concrete bridge on one of the main roads leading out of the town. At least one was decapitated.
The bodies were partially mummified by the dry desert air, while grass has began to grow around the corpses, suggesting that the killings had taken place some time ago.
About 50 Damasak residents had fled as at the town was re-taken, those who remained were mostly too old or too sick to leave.
