The Chief of Staff to the Nigerian President, Mr Mike Oghiadomhe, has resigned his appointment, albeit under a controversial circumstance.
Mr Oghiadomhe, on Monday afternoon, sent his resignation letter to the President.
The presidency is yet to disclose the circumstances surrounding the Chief of Staff’s resignation, online reports however indicated it may be in connection with his alleged involvement in the ongoing controversy surrounding the missing ($20 billion) funds at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)
Confirming the resignation, the Media Adviser to the President, Reuben Abati, says Oghiadomhe resigned to pursue his political ambition.
He explained that the president had called on cabinet members with political ambitions to exit on time.
He also noted that there is yet no replacement for Oghuiadomhe whose appointment was renewed in July 2011 by President Goodluck Jonathan.
