News reaching Roving Informant reveals that Former Judge of the Supreme Court and Chairman - Oputa Panel, Justice Chukwudifu Oputa passed on Sunday afternoon at the age of 96.
Charlyboy’s daughter, Yvonne Oputa who confirmed the sad news to some journalists in a highly emotional laden voice reportedly said, ”papa is gone. He left us this afternoon.”
The Oputa family also issued an official statement regarding the death of the former jurist.
In a statement issued on Sunday on behalf of the family and signed by the deceased son Charles Oputa (Charlyboy), the family announced that, ”The Family of Justice Chukwudifu Oputa wishes to announce the passing to glory of the eminent jurist and a retired Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria at the age of 96″.
He passed on peacefully on Sunday afternoon, 4th May 2014, after recovering from a brief illness.
