The Lagos state Rapid Response Squad (RRS) stated that their men arrested three suspects alleged to be members of a 15 man robbery syndicate terrorizing the Bourdilion-Ikoyi area of Lagos state, on saturday, November 7, while the rest escaped.
The suspects identified as 24-year-old Joseph Edem, Jamila Musa, 29, and Gambo Yunusa ,30, were perfecting plans for an opeartion when they were bursted. One of the suspects, Jamilu Musa claimed he was not part of the gang, he however stated that he knows Joseph Edema as a member of the robbery syndicate. Four cutlasses, axes and iron rod, were among the weapons recovered from their hideouts.
Recently there have been an escalation in the reports of armed robbery attacks on unsuspecting motorists carting away valuables ranging from wallets, jewelries, handsets etc, even inflicting injuries on some of their victims in various parts of Lagos state, especially during the morning rush hour on their way to work and after work hours in the evenings. It is hoped that with increased surveillance oparations of the RRS, these robbery incidents will be greatly curtailed.
