Wild Fire In Indonesia's Protected Forests Threatens Wild Life!

Pictures of an emantiated mother Orangutan and her baby, clinging on tightly, after they were resucued by International Animal Rescue (IAR) volunteers, from wildfire which ravaged Borneo, Indonesia's island's forests.

The mother and child who were forced out of their forest home as a result of the fires, ended up in a village where frightened villagers threw things at the animals, then attempted to capture and tie the mother Orangotan up, before the IAR team got there in time to safe the terrified animalsThe rescued duo were anaesthetised, translocated and released into a safe area of protected rainforest where they are being monitored by a conservation team to ensure that they are recovering well from their terrible ordeal.

The wild fire, which has scorched acres of protected forest was allegedly set by ranchers to clear land for farming, a situation described by Karmele Llano Sanchez, Program Director for IAR Indonesia, as a worst man-made ecological disaster of the century "This is a global environmental crisis and it is already considered by experts as the worst man-made ecological disaster of the century which will affect the lives of people the world over...".
