Iceland Prime Minister, Sigmundur David Gunnlaugsson resigned on Tuesday, April 5th, after the Panama Paper leak.
The resignation which was announced on television by deputy chairman of the Progressive Party and government minister, Sigurdur Ingi Johannsson was confirmed by Iceland's national public-service broadcasting organization (RUV).
Mr. Gunnlaugsson initially maintained that he and his wife, Anna Sigurlaug Palsdottir, had not hidden their assets or avoided paying taxes, and that the leak contained no news.
